Welcome to the Kel on Wheels Benefit Drive
Corticobasal degeneration (CBD) is a rare neurodegenerative brain disease that has no known cause, treatment or cure.
Our friend and neighbor Kelly Koenig is a victim.
But he’s fighting back. He can cycle and he can sing.
So, let’s all join Kel. We’ll RIDE and raise money to fight this rare and progressive neurological disorder. Then later, we’ll ROCK and raise money to help the Koenigs defray the significant expenses associated with Kel’s fight.

WHEN:
Saturday, July 17, 2010 (Rain or shine) WHERE:
Decorah, Iowa DETAILS:· Approximately 32-mile scenic bicycle ride.
· The ride starts at Wold Park (Winneshiek Avenue and 5th Street) in Decorah, Iowa. You will roll along the Upper Iowa bike trail, through the camp ground, out the Madison Road, turn north to the Pole Line Road and back to Decorah.
· Registration starts at 7:00 am.
· Kel and Karla will take off at 8:30 am.
· Ride support ends at 1 pm.
· One food/water stop along the way
· Note: This will be a self-supported ride. Please plan accordingly.

Walkers/Joggers. Although no organized events are planned, walkers and runners can enjoy the new paved trail systems along the Upper Iowa and in the nearby hiking trails at Van Peenan park and Palisades Park.
Then, stop by and have some lemonade and cheer Kel, Karla and the other cyclists as they arrive home.
Refreshments and entertainment for cyclists, hikers and supporters at Wold Park. Bring a guitar or kazoo. You’ll entertain us!

Lodging:
Due to the possible unavailability of hotel/motel rooms during the weekend of Kel on Wheels because of conventions, etc.,
there will be rooms available at the Luther College Tower Dorms.

DONATION INFORMATION
All proceeds from the music event at the Elks will be donated to Kelly and Karla to defray expenses relating to travel (Kelly has been accepted in the Mayo Clinic’s research program), medical treatments and related therapy and support costs. This debilitating disease requires enormous expenses.
Donations from Evening of Rock go to the Koenig family (non tax deductible but critical).

Kelly and Karla Koenig have requested that all proceeds be given to the Mayo Clinic program headed by Dr. Bradley Boeve and to the Cure PSP | CBD Foundation. Our goal is to donate 100% of your non tax deductible donations from the Ride to research.
